After the games “Freedom 1945: Liberation”, “Train to Sachsenhausen” and “Beecarbonize” in the studio Charles Games complete another unconventional title. This time the Prague team presents a story-driven adventure game. Playing Kafkawhich based on three works by Franz Kafka (Trial, Castle and Letter to Father). Leading experts on Kafka’s works took part in the development.
“Working on Kafka’s Game required us to carefully study Kafka’s work, reading The Castle, The Trial and Letter to Father in the evenings. The play is not only thematically inspired by Kafka’s books, but is also directly based on them. But “Kafka’s Game” is not just an illustration, but an adaptation. Although you’ll find some of the same lines in the game as in the original, the result is a unique translation of Kafka’s worlds into a video game. We believe that Playing Kafka can bring Kafka’s work to a new generation in a form that will appeal to gamers and non-gamers alike.” – said Alexa Petrova.
Expect atmospheric puzzles, life-changing decisions, and drag-and-drop mechanics that bring characters and environments to life. The story will last about an hour and a half in constantly changing scenery.
The game Playing Kafka will be download for free in Czech, including dubbing, from May 21 this year for PC (Steam), Android and iOS. You can listen to the Czech dubbing in a short teaser. Jaroslav Plesl or David Novotny provided their voices.
