While employees are learning Arcane Austin (Redfall and Extraction), Tango Gameworks (Hi-Fi Rush and previously The Evil Within series) Alpha games with dogs (Mighty Doom mobile) learned of the layoff, so their employer announced a new controller design with a slogan that angered fans and other developers.
The unveiling of the new Xbox controller design came hours after news of layoffs and studio closures on Tuesday. The driver is called Fire Steam, Special Edition and is included among the designs of Stormcloud, Dream and Noctunal. The name was chosen to evoke fire. Slogan Feel the burn however, it was used unsuccessfully at the time of its discontinuation.
Of course, the person who came up with this slogan did not know about the layoffs of people from Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks and Alpha Dog Games. But perhaps Microsoft should have waited with the introduction. Instead of faces criticism for insensitive marketing strategy. The American company soon responded and changed the blog post: it no longer included the Feel the Burn slogan.
