Sequels always face a difficult task. They must convince players that their systems are more complex, better, more advanced and, above all, more fun than before. That goes doubly true for Frostpunk 2, as this frosty strategy gem is approaching us just as quickly as the insane heat that awaits us in July.

But many players literally froze when they learned that Frostpunk 2, although essentially the same, is a look at the building part of the macroeconomy, i.e. it is much broader in its systems than its predecessor. You no longer have to build separate paths or insulate surrounding objects.

Gone is the worry about separating workers, scientists or children into separate buildings. In Frostpunk 2, you build and control entire districts. You work with heat as a raw material, directly proportional to temperature. There is no need to figure out whether some streets are frozen.

They won’t if you have enough resources, such as coal or materials. On the contrary, you will have to provide enough mining opportunities, expanding the influence of your city and, as a result, the political position of the inhabitants who form the newly formed “political parties”.
