The launch of the Fallout series last week has sharply increased interest in individual games in the series. Fallout 76, Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas have seen significant increases in player numbers. This trend is well illustrated by Steam data. For example, I played Fallout 4 over the weekend. more than 77 thousand players simultaneously, which is the highest since January 2016, when it was relatively new (the game came out in November 2015). The even older Fallout: New Vegas from 2010 had more than 15 thousand concurrent players, which is the highest figure in the last 9 years.
However, the most recent Fallout 76 may mark the greatest success, reaching over 35 thousand players, which broke his all time record. Even immediately after release, the game was not liked by as many players as it is now. However, the key role in this case was the free trial, which allowed interested parties to try out Fallout 76 for free. A similar increase in interest has been observed on consoles other than Steam. Meanwhile, the Fallout series itself may receive a generally positive reception. Therefore, it is not surprising that people are slowly starting to talk about a second season.
