Job advertisement People can fly revealed the first details about the mysterious Project Maverickwhich the authors of Bulletstorm, Gears of War: Judgment and Outriders are preparing together with Microsoft.
Officially, we only know a few things. The game has a budget of between $30 million and $50 million and is part of an existing brand. But this was not specified. Judging by the advertising of the experienced level designer’s Polish studio, it looks like a multiplayer shooter with battles against other players.
An applicant for this position must have at least three years of work experience. In addition to knowledge of best practices and levels of game design, experience in PvP map development is required. At least there will be one mode focused on fighting other players. Of course, this does not exclude a second mode with the fight against artificial intelligence. A story campaign is also possible.
The mystery is which of the existing series the project belongs to. There are speculations about Mechanisms of War. In 2007, People Can Fly created the PC version of the first Gears of War game, and in 2013 they took part in Epic Games’ Gears of War: Judgment. Maybe a remake? The budget will match this.
They have a lot of work to do in the Polish studio. In addition to the Maverick project, Twinsalso in collaboration with Square Enix, Dagger (from which she recently sold to Take-Two) and even more mysterious projects Victoria, Bifrost And Ed. One is supposed to be an adventure game, another is a new virtual reality brand, and the latest is reportedly an RPG shooter for the PlayStation.
People Can Fly laid off more than 30 people in January of this year. People from the team working on the yet-to-be-announced game, codenamed Project Gemini, have lost their jobs. This is due to budget cuts and scale limitations. Another 20 developers will move on to other People Can Fly projects. If earlier information is correct, Project Gemini will be released in 2026.
