Prices are rising steadily around the world. However, Blizzard doesn’t want to copy the trends with World of Warcraft. At least in terms of monthly fees, according to senior vice president John Hight, there are no significant changes planned for the PC Gamer server even after twenty years. He himself commented on the reason for the lack of significant growth: “I am very proud that we managed to maintain this price level. I’d rather have a large, healthy, happy audience than risk having a smaller audience and more subscriptions.“
Hight emphasizes the fact that for this price the player will receive a total of three “games”, according to him, this model should increase the gameplay itself: “What’s amazing about the subscription model is that we can double the gameplay itself. We don’t need to create any way to convince people to join and give us more money or unlock things, everyone has access to everything. The thing is that the subscription price is really low. However, it must be added that World of Warcraft receives funding in other ways. Another source is cosmetic accessories, which, of course, are not very well received by the PC community, where the game has been available for a long time. As this game continues to evolve, it’s clear that the model is working. So we’ll see if there will be some kind of revaluation over time. Nothing is eternal.
Despite everything, World of Warcraft’s subscription price hasn’t changed in 20 years: “I’d rather have a big, healthy, happy audience” than risk scaring players away with price hikes, Warcraft boss says. https://t.co/DhZH7itOok
