Thanks to the huge success of Baldur’s Gate 3, the game has remained virtually non-stop since its release. reflects on the future of this brand. Players and journalists are understandably interested in whether the developers are preparing an add-on or a full-fledged sequel. However, representatives of the Larian studio have long since tempered fans’ expectations in this regard. Larian boss and founder Sven Vincke himself gave a fairly clear answer to all questions during his lecture at the GDC conference.
He said that the studio he has no plans to develop DLC or a new part. According to him, Larian will at least temporarily leave the entire brand and focus on something completely different. So we definitely won’t be seeing another Baldur’s Gate in the foreseeable future, at least not from Larian. However, it is worth noting that the rights to the brand itself belong to the publisher Wizards of the Coast, which can dispose of them at its discretion. Will we see a new Baldur’s Gate from another studio? That’s another question. However, it is unlikely that a series with such significant potential will remain idle for long.
