With similar input parameters such as FSR or DLSS, replacing upscaling shouldn’t be as difficult and can result in significant improvements in image quality in games, especially those that currently use FSR.
The second piece of information relates to the total GDDR6 memory that the console uses. While it will again only offer 16GB like the base model, the capacity will change significantly for developers. Of this 16 GB, they can now only use 12.5 GB for their game, and for PS5 Pro, according to Digital Foundry, it should be 13.7 GB, i.e. 1.2 GB increase. We don’t know for sure what’s causing the increase, but it’s likely that the Pro version will have extra DDR memory for background apps. Developers could use more RAM for more detailed ray tracing or implement the already mentioned PSSR technology, which should take up about 250 MB of memory.
