Designer Terry Hess, who pushed Obsidian forward, has died

“Terry was a warm, welcoming person and a great mentor that anyone from any department could talk to. We will feel his loss for a long time and it will be impossible to replace him. He will be greatly missed,” Obsidian wrote in a description of the fundraiser for the Hess family.

Terry Hess began his career in 2005 at BlackOps Entertainment, where he participated in the creation of the basketball game AND 1 Streetball, but soon moved to the famous Treyarch. There he won three titles Spider-Man 3, 007: Quantum of Solace And call of Duty Black Ops. In 2012 and 2013, he held the position of lead game artist. Medal of Honor: Fighter And Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel.

Has been with Obsidian since 2013. For the first time created an environment for Armored Warhe was already developing then The Outer Worlds. “He was one of the main writers on the very early demo we produced for Private Division. It was for this demo that we finalized the look of The Outer Worlds, and our colleagues from Private Division are still talking about it,” say Obsidian developers.

“From the very beginning of The Outer Worlds 2, Terry took his role as lead environment designer extremely seriously, pushing forward what he believed we could and should do visually with our worlds. As we continue to develop the sequel, we will strive to realize his vision,” they add.
