Apple Suspends Epic Developer Account on App Store Again – INDIA

Thanks to a change mandated by the European Union under the Digital Markets Act (DMA), it was assumed that Fortnite I’ll be back on iOS soon. The company planned to launch for iOS mobile version of Epic Games Store. But these plans were significantly disrupted re-lock your developer account from the App Store.

Apple’s lawyers call Epic a clearly unreliable company and, according to the court’s decision, had every right to remove all or some of Epic’s applications from its ecosystem. This is stated in a letter published by Epic on its website. The owner of Fortnite and Unreal Engine is paying the price for his old decision to bypass Apple’s rules and launch his own payment gateway in Fortnite for iOS to avoid 30% fees.

Epic considers blocking developer accounts to be serious violation of the DMA Act and proof that Apple doesn’t really intend to open iOS up to competition. According to Epic, with this move Apple was supposed to get rid of one of the biggest potential App Store competitors and could do the same for all accounts.

“We recently announced that Apple has approved our developer account for Epic Games Australia AB. We planned to use this account to launch the Epic Games Store and Fortnite on iOS devices in Europe, as permitted by the Digital Markets Act (DMA). To our surprise, Apple has deleted this account and we can no longer develop the Epic Games Store for iOS.” Epic reports.

According to Epic, this is too much retaliation for Tim Sweeney’s comment. The head of Epic recently took to social media to criticize the way Apple intends to open its store to other companies.

The question is what impact this will have on mobile games built on Unreal Engine. Personally, I’m curious about the reaction from Microsoft, which is also planning to open an Xbox store for smartphones and tablets.
