Today Remedy released a new update for Alan Wake 2, which will please all owners of old computers. The Finnish studio focused on optimization and managed to lower the minimum requirements.
The continuation of the writer’s famous thriller four months after its release will also appeal to owners of weaker video cards. This was recently introduced at least GeForce RTX 1070 or Radeon RX 5600 XT. Paired with an Intel i5-7600K or AMD equivalent and 16GB of RAM, you’ll be able to run the game at the lowest graphics settings at 1080p at 30fps. This is made possible, among other things, by DLSS from Nvidia or FSR2 from AMD. The resolution was a pleasant surprise; initially it looked like 720p.
Before this change, Alan Wake 2 required at least a GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 6600. Windows 10/11 64-bit, 90GB of available SSD space, and 6GB of VRAM are still listed as the minimum.
Addition The patch also improves performance on more modern/powerful graphics cards.. In some cases the increase should be noticeable. For example, the RTX 4070 has an improvement of 14%. Martin Cvrček wrote more information about this change in his detailed article yesterday.
The PC version of Alan Wake 2 is sold exclusively on the Epic Games Store for 1,324 crowns.
