At Pokémon Presents, we heard some news about existing games and the announcement of a brand new pocket card game, Pokémon Tradic. But, of course, the biggest announcement took place at the very end of the entire showcase, and perhaps no one expected it at all.
The new title is called Pokémon Legends: ZA (hard to say how to even pronounce it, but probably “Z to A”). By the letters, fans of the series will know that we are returning to the 6th generation (X&Y games), that is, to the Kalos region. This will bring back Pokemon from this area, as well as the popular Mega Evolutions. In particular, we get a look at the city of Lumiose, which will be rebuilt so that people and Pokémon can live in harmony there.
Legends’ subtitle suggests it will be something a little different from the “mold” of classic games. We got our first Legends (subtitled Arceus) in 2022, and it was the first experiment with a more open world and generally looser gameplay concept.
We haven’t seen anything from the new title other than the CGI trailer. We only know that Game Freak is traditionally behind it and it will be released next year, without further details.
But it’s interesting with platforms. In the trailer we see the Switch logo and the release on it is imminent, but the caption makes an interesting connection “Nintendo Switch Systems”. Theoretically, one could assume that this is due to the existence of the Lite model and OLED, but at the same time it could mean that the game will also be released on the “Switch 2” (which should appear on the market). in March 2025) and it is quite possible that this will be the launch game.
