The game was first announced in 2015. A$306,515 was raised on Kickstarter. This pleasantly surprised the creators, and they decided to change the scope of the project and switch from Unity Engine to Unreal Engine. Two years later, a new trailer was released with plans to release the game towards the end of 2018 on PC and then on consoles. However, the console’s timed exclusivity was announced at the PlayStation 5 presentation in June. After its expiration, the game was also expected to appear on Nintendo Switch and Xbox. The release was scheduled for winter 2022.
This is probably why today’s video is called against all odds. Luckily, it looks like Little Devil Inside will finally be released. We hope the authors have overcome all the problems and will share more information with us soon. For now, the video is only accompanied by a letter to Kickstarter backers at the time. In it, the developers apologize for the long delay and silence.
The letter states that the two brothers who run the independent studio Neostream Interactive were not ready to run the company. They consider growing a small team and hiring new people with different goals a mistake because they were unable to come to terms with the different views and perspectives of their new colleagues. So they went back to a small, close-knit team with the goal of creating a great game. The team consists of the original founders and members. Through experience they should become stronger than before. Another change is technology, development takes place on Unreal Engine 5. They have currently started discussions about release, so everything should be geared towards release. We just don’t know if Sony’s temporary exclusivity is still in effect. If so, Little Devil Inside will be available for PC and PlayStation first.
