For many, the start of the year is a time to catch up on the previous year’s games. For me this is covered today RoboCop: Rogue City. Teyon received a lot of backlash when it released its first major game, Rambo: The Video Game. But they managed to get a license for the Terminator. The game, subtitled Resistance, turned out to be slightly above average, and players especially praised the work with the brand. In the review, I even mentioned my enthusiasm for a possible further film adaptation of the famous series. Teyon managed to improve his skills again and put on another great performance., which fans will love, and others will absolutely not regret their time and money. RoboCop: Rogue City is first person shooter. This is not a purely linear title. The game also offers simple RPG elements, dialogue options, side quests, and world exploration. During ten hour campaigns you will have the opportunity to deviate from the main storyline in locations and help the residents of Detroit. Additional activities add about 5-7 hours, and some require replaying the game. This way you can get up to 20 hours of game time. But let’s take a closer look at all the elements of the game and the plot.
You are a massive machine that moves slowly. But thanks to this, you will be able to withstand much more attacks from enemies. You don’t have to hide behind walls or obstacles. Without much difficulty, you will approach an enemy, grab him by the neck and throw him at the next one. If you want to hide, you can easily grab the container and use it as a shield. Thanks to this ability, you won’t have to rely solely on firearms left behind by enemies. One Shooting feel is average for some weapons. That’s why I threw chairs, guitars, barrels of explosives at my enemies, or approached them and sent them across half the room with one blow. This option maintains a more average shooting feel and doesn’t become tiring for most of the gameplay. Only at the end can you stop having fun, which is mainly due to the long last mission.
The action takes place between the second and third films. In addition to the locations, some characters are also returning. Fan favorite Anne Lewis gets plenty of space and will be with you throughout much of the story. At the same time, it is shown in such a way that even those who have not seen a single film will be hooked. In RoboCop 2, the plot revolves around the new drug Nuke, which plays the biggest role in the game. In this way, Rogue City will resolve the film’s unanswered questions and also help better set the stage for a third film. The game is canonical to the storyline of the original films. Without spoiling anything, I can say that fans will be very pleased. Other players will enjoy a story that can explain everything and works on its own. A new negative character comes with a new threat. And the best part of it all? Robocop is voiced by none other than Peter Weller., who played him in the first two parts, but not in the third. The game also helps explain this. But only one of the three endings of the game is official. The biggest differences are in the conversations the minor characters play out at the end. If you decide to help an ordinary merchant in the city center, he will treat you positively and will excuse some of your actions.
