He also thanked all laid-off employees and offered them personal support.
I want to thank everyone impacted today for their meaningful contributions to their teams, Blizzard, and the lives of their players. This is an incredibly difficult day and my energy and support will be focused on all those wonderful people who have been affected – this is in no way a reflection…

The growing number of layoffs in the gaming industry will add nearly 2,000 people in 2024. If last year, according to various estimates, this number ranged from 7,000 to 10,000, then taking into account the current statement from Microsoft, this year we get at least more than 5.5 thousand. Riot Games recently laid off more than 500 employees.
