Late last week we informed you about speculation regarding the alleged problems of the German studio Piranha Bytes, which signed a contract for the Gothic, Elex and Risen series of role-playing games. According to Gameswirtschaft magazine, the German team was supposed to become the latest victim of restructuring and cutbacks of the Embracer Group, which is in dire financial straits. The studio’s existential problems are now being recognized by its leading representatives. IN Official statement Piranha Bytes management confirmed this the studio found itself in a difficult situation.
However, in the same breath, the developers add that this unit, which has been operating for almost 30 years, should not be written off. The developers reported that currently they are looking for a partner for their future project, which would allow them to continue creating new game worlds. So, it is clear that Piranha Bytes is indeed looking for a new buyer or possible publisher to financially support their new project and allow the studio itself to survive.
