Today NVIDIA released an open beta version of its a tool called Nvidia RTX Remix, which should make it much easier for modders to incorporate modern Nvidia technologies like Path Tracing, RTX IO, Reflex or DLSS 3 into older games. The company said the tool works best with games running DirectX 8 and DirectX 9. In recent months, Nvidia RTX Remix technology has been available to select creators in closed beta testing, which has already resulted in the first enhanced games such as Half Life 2. RTX and portal: Prelude RTX.
But since the tool is now open to the general public, it is more than clear that in the future we will see a number of similar public projects, which will try to remake old games into a more modern look using Nvidia technology. Other remakes that have been in the works for a while include community efforts like Max Payne RTX Remix or Open Lara RTX: Reimagined Realms Tomb Raider.
