Massive layoffs throughout Hug group continues. The Swedish colossus said goodbye to a significant part of the studio team Lost Boys Interactivewhich falls under the subsection Gearbox Entertainment.

Lost Boys Interactive employed over 400 people. According to former producer Jared Pace, much of the team lost their jobs. He later said that the layoffs affected all positions.

Lost Boys Interactive was founded in 2017 and acquired by Gearbox in 2022. Before the layoffs, the company employed more than 400 people and made a comic book shooter game. Tiny Tina’s Wonderland from the gearbox I Diablo 4 from Blizzard.

The restructuring of Embracer Group was announced last year, shortly after it failed to close a $2 billion deal with Saudi Arabia’s Savvy Games Group. Embracer Group has closed studios Volition (Saints Row) and Free Radical Design (TimeSplitters) and announced layoffs at Crystal Dynamics, New World Interactive, 3D Realms, Slipgate Ironworks or Fishlabs.

Other companies also conducted layoffs last year. Microsoft, Epic Games Store, Bungie, Sony, Codemasters, 505 Games, Ubisoft or Amazon, among others. Unity has announced approximately 1,800 layoffs this year.
