The well-known site SteamDB reported that on Steam a total of 14,532 games were released last year. This is the highest figure in the entire history of this platform. In previous years, the popular digital store included 12,562 (2022) and 11,389 (2021) titles for comparison. Even in 2019 there were “only” 8,134 games. None of the traditional gaming platforms can boast such a rapidly growing game library.
The ostensible second place in this direction is taken by the Nintendo Switch, where it was 2,360 games released last year. Aside from the very openness of the PC platform and its relatively dominant position among PC gamers, Steam also owes its strong performance to its own welcoming policy when endorsing individual games. Thanks to this, almost anything can be released on Steam that does not necessarily benefit the platform and the players themselves.
In 2023, more than 14,000 games will be released on Steam. https://t.co/9fF4zjBAEu pic.twitter.com/ca9vl4MsgP
