The story of a failed game The day before is gradually coming to an end. Developers are preparing to shut down servers after now-defunct studio Fntastic announced on 12/11/2023 that it had run out of money and had no resources to continue development.

The game was launched in early access on Steam only on December 7th of this year. The servers will be shut down in exactly one month, on January 22, 2024. Since then, Steam has been actively refunding anyone who has not yet requested a refund from the publisher Mytona.

“We regret to inform you that Fntastic has officially closed. For this reason, The Day Before will not be developed further and the servers will be shut down on January 22, 2024.” says the official statement.

“As we previously announced, our publisher Mythona has taken action on Steam to guarantee refunds to everyone who purchased the game. If you haven’t received your funds yet, Steam should send them to you soon.”

“We are grateful to our community for their support throughout this project. Unfortunately, without a development team, we have no choice but to officially end the project. We sincerely thank all our fans for this journey and wish everyone a happy holiday.”

We’ve come to the end of a strange story that began back in 2019, when The Day Before was announced as a multiplayer survival game with photorealistic graphics and an open world. But, as it turned out a few years later, it was all just a lie.
