The gaming industry is full of 2D platformers. However, in the field of board games there are not so many of them. What prompted the authors of the Ploshinovka board to create their work, where the player is presented with an extensive level, at the end of which nothing awaits except an insidious boss. The following lines will tell you how it all works in practice.

It is not advisable to stop while playing the board game “Ploshinovka”.
As is often the case in platformers with a clearly undefined hero, you are given the opportunity to choose one of the champions from the very beginning. There are a total of six characters that can be accessed by choice or randomly. Each one is specific in its own way. For example, the wild-looking Bivoy is a monster hunter, so for every enemy he defeats he receives extra money. However, she only has four lives, while the elf Avis has exactly six hearts, and as a special ability she is able to move a monster or her competitor to their original position, which can sometimes make her life much easier.
Once you’ve made your choice, there’s nothing stopping you from going into the dungeon, which always has three floors that you go through. If any of the heroes reaches the third level, the lowest floor will disappear along with all the monsters and heroes that are currently on it. Thanks to this, Rykhlik can flood his opponents quite unpleasantly. While monsters will fall immediately, in the case of characters they will “only” faint, which resets his special dice and also discards any boss tokens that have a negative effect on the fighter if the same token ends up in his hand.
Therefore, it is unwise to linger here under any circumstances, which you will already learn about during the first games. Dice are the main element of gameplay in Plošinovce. At the start of your turn, you roll five action dice and one enemy dice. Enemy dice only have three scoring forms. Opponents can move in your direction, to the other side, or attack the hero waiting on the adjacent field. Then your character will gain much more knowledge. He can move one square in any direction where there are no obstacles. If she’s lucky, she’ll be able to attack an enemy, get a gold coin, push an enemy, or use your hero’s special symbols, representing some of the options already mentioned.
The interesting thing is that if you receive two identical symbols, you can transform them into the one you need at the moment. However, the range of actions from dice and basic hero cards is not the only thing that can be used in Plosinovka. You can also use other actions during your turn. Their range is quite diverse. If someone accidentally stops you, you may appear on the map. Personally, I think it’s a brilliant idea to estimate gravity, with the help of which to send everyone who thought it was a good idea to stop in the air quite down. The hero then has the option to purchase items from the store or use them, making them unavailable in that round but available to him in the next round.
Sometimes you can’t do without a fight
The dice are treacherous and there are never too few enemies when you open a new part of the dungeon, so there’s always going to be a fight sooner or later. Against your opponents, you can easily use all the attack dice you roll, the effect of which can be further enhanced by the crystals you receive by stepping onto a gem field during your journey. In addition to the six regular enemies that can be defeated to reward you with gold and gems, there is a boss waiting for you.
To be more precise, the Platform offers you only two final bosses, who are waiting for zombies, werewolves and other monsters. In the current menu you will find Medusa and the deadly Banzai. Each of them comes into battle with a different set of abilities and, above all, unique cards that they can use against you. If the scaly beauty is capable of turning enemies into stone and digesting them without problems, then in the case of Banzai you have to count on the fact that she completely ignores the effects of gravity and rushes into battle with a friend who is ready to load you up as well. I found each of the battles interesting. But I could imagine a wider range of powerful opponents.
In the event that a regular boss fight is not enough for you, you have the opportunity to increase the scale of the map or add artifacts to the game that work on the same principle as classic items, so that after using them for at least one round, you will not be able to work in Plošinovci. However, their range is so wide that they can shape the shape of certain gameplay elements in a certain way. However, in all circumstances, once a boss is defeated, the game ends and the corresponding points are recalculated.
Ploshinovka can please players
After I managed to defeat both available bosses, I started writing this and I must say that I was in a positive mood the entire time. The platformer is a decent board game that has you and your hero racing to the top. The role of the dice is quite fundamental, but you can always move them at least a little by including potions and other cards in the game. When luck favors you, battles with enemies are relatively easy.
Personally, I could imagine a more varied range of enemies, as I find it quite limited, as is the range of bosses. However, it’s possible that we’ll see some more juice over time. Despite this shortcoming, overall this is an interesting title for all fans of 2D platformers who no longer want to play only on the screen of their PC or console.
