Fighting Killer instinct celebrated its 10th anniversary, and its creators announced significant changes on this occasion. This is the title partially switches to a free model. Thus, the base game will be available for free to all players on PC and Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
The catch is that the free base version of Killer Instinct only has one fighter, which changes every week. Within Anniversary edition, the official price of which was $29.99. (converted to CZK 670), players will have access to all 29 fighters and all premium content, including a double VIP XP multiplier or holiday cosmetic items.
If you’ve already purchased Killer Instinct, you’ll naturally be able to upgrade to the paid anniversary version for free. The Definitive Edition for console/PC and Steam is being discontinued. Short and good: if you purchased something, you will still have access to it at no additional cost.
Once Killer Instinct becomes partially free-to-play, new players adding the game to their library will have access to both single-player and ranked modes. They will also be allowed to create a local lobby.
“On behalf of everyone who has ever worked on Killer Instinct, I would like to thank you, our community, for ten wonderful years. Your support has allowed us to continue playing the game, and we are proud to bring you news about the game’s tenth anniversary that we hope will delight both new and old fans.” James Goddard, the leader of the team working on the game, wrote about this in his blog.
The complete game is part of Game Pass.
