After Christmas in the Czech Republic you will be able to purchase a new portable console PlayStation Portal, which has already hit store shelves in some global markets. Unlike other handhelds discussed, such as the Steam Deck or ASUS ROG Ally, it is used to transfer games from the PlayStation 5. This also means that you cannot play without the classic console.
It’s the purpose for which PS Portal was created that makes it a bit controversial. Sony fans are divided on this issue. Some hail it as a great solution to the problem of always-busy TV, but others think it’s completely pointless. The manufacturer himself is now tried to more accurately approach the intention with which the console was created.
In a recent interview with the Japanese portal AV Watch, Sony Vice President Hideaki Nishino said that the new pocket computer was not released to maximize revenue. The main goal was to provide players a means by which they can spend more time with PlayStation 5.
“If you can play anywhere, I think some people will spend more time playing games.” – Nishino stated.
But this statement is a bit controversial. The portal uses video game streaming from the PlayStation 5 console over a local Wi-Fi network, which in practice means you can only play at home or in your immediate vicinity (in other words, where the network the PS5 is connected to can still Got you) .
However, Nishino outlined Sony’s plan to make cloud gaming accessible, which would make Portal a much more useful device. We informed you about this separately here.
PlayStation Portal will be available here on 12/01/2024 at a price of CZK 5,390 and can be purchased, for example, in the CZC.cz store.
