Sony Chief Commercial Officer Eric Lempel defended the price increases in an interview with Barron’s. According to him, they had no choice but to increase the price of PS Plus.

“We want PlayStation Plus to be great. Like almost everything in this world, we have had to review our prices and adapt them to market conditions.” – Lempel said, recalling that for 85% of the world’s countries, the price of PS Plus has not been touched for many years.

When asked about Xbox Game Pass and Microsoft’s strategy of adding third-party games on release day, something Sony doesn’t do, he said the two services are different.

“It depends on what you get on the service in terms of the type of games and their quality. I can’t comment on what competitors are doing. But we believe that we offer an excellent catalog of games, as well as other features and services. It’s a very different proposition, but it resonates with customers. Since introducing these tiers, we have seen a third of service users choose the two higher tiers, which is more than we expected.”

All PS Plus subscribers can now expand their digital library. Farming Simulator 22 (contains Czech subtitles), Callisto Protocol And Weird West. More expensive plans now include, for example, titles The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes, Alien: Isolation, Outlast 2, Dead Island Complete Edition whose Gotham Knights.
