Introducing the remaster of the cult first-person shooter Star Wars: Dark Forces from LucasArts, responsible for the proven studio Nightdive, was one of the most pleasant surprises at Gamescom this year. Actually it was one of the few real surprises of the summer exhibition in Cologne. But then the developers from Nightdive Studios did not want to reveal when the project with a simple name would be released. Star Wars: Dark Forces Remastered will arrive.
But now we have clearly. The remaster will go on sale on February 28, 2024., in the version for PC (Steam, possibly GOG.com), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The original shooter, one of many that formed the basis of the success of id Software’s DOOM, was released for MS-DOS on March 10, 1995 (later followed by a port on the Macintosh and the first PlayStation), so an improved version would hit the market almost exactly 29 years after the original’s release..
