Second Extinction launched in early access on Steam in 2020, and a year later came out on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Version 1.0 was supposed to be released late last year, but was delayed due to critical issues.
“Unfortunately, our small team lacks the resources needed to achieve our quality goals,” explains Studio Systemic Reaction. In short, the developers don’t have the money to finish the game and they decided to cancel it. The team will move on to other projects part of parent company Avalanche Studios Group. There should be no layoffs.
