Sony once again fuels the opinion that the company is only chasing money, trying to win over gamers at any cost. He was introduced yesterday new PlayStation 5 modelwhich will gradually replace the original version.
The problem is in the rack required to securely hold the thinner PS5 upright. When purchasing an older console model, in the package you will find a black plastic stand for both vertical and horizontal positions. However, for the sake of the new look of the console, Sony decided to change the positioning of the console.
In the first photo we can see that when the console is lying down, it is supported by a small silver stand in the opening. This will apparently be needed to “fill” the gap created by the Blu-ray optical engine. So for the Digital Edition you can do without a drive, but it will be included in the kit, because the drive can be purchased separately. In the second photo, the console is in a vertical position and below it we see large silver stand. Unfortunately, it is not included in the package. It will be sold separately for 30 euros (converted to CZK 737). It will be compatible with the older PS5 model.
The new PlayStation 5 is more than 30% smaller and 18% smaller. and 24% lighter. Given this, current replacement cases will not be compatible. The new ones will be available sometime in early 2024. Sony has confirmed an all-matte black variant and a Deep Earth collection with volcanic red, cobalt blue and sterling silver. The price of the case starts from 54.99 euros. More colors will be available in the future.
PS5 Slim goes on sale from November this year in the USA and in the coming months around the world. The recommended retail price is EUR 549.99 (converted to CZK 13,500) for PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray drive and EUR 449.99 (converted to CZK 11,050) for PS5 Digital Edition.
In Europe, both variants of the new PS5 model will be sold at the same price as the old ones. If Sony does not decide to increase the price in our country when switching from the euro, then it should maintain current prices. This means CZK 13,390 for the Blu-ray version and CZK 10,990 for the digital edition. You can buy it cheaper somewhere.
They will have to prepare for price increases in the US and Japan, where the price of the PS5 Digital Edition will increase. It currently retails for $400 (49,478 yen). The new price will be $450 or 59,980 yen.
Japan will also pay more for peripherals, including the DualSense wireless controller, Pusle 3D headset or HD camera, starting October 18 this year.
