The second part of Alan Wake is a full-fledged survival horror, and Remedy makes no secret of the fact that the sound system is a very important part of the entire experience, as they already presented a few weeks ago in the “Behind the Scenes” video. At the same time, it has been confirmed for some time that Finnish band Poets of the Fall will return as the fictional group Old Gods of Asgard. In total, they wrote 3 songs for the game, which, along with others, will be included in the album, which will be released in December. However, Poets of the Fall is not the only Finnish artist that Remedy developers have worked with.
It was today announcedthat Finnish authors, together with the production company Fried Music, have prepared 7 original songs. From the video about their creation, we learn that they should be closely related to the plot and aesthetics of the game. The lyrics are based on poetry by Sam Lake and are meant to reflect the story. You can probably expect something similar, for example, to the song The Poet and the Muse in the first volume of Alan Wake from the already mentioned Poets of the Fall (or Old Gods of Asgard), which became key to the plot.
The individual songs belong to different genres and were created by Finnish music producer Jukka Immonen with the collaboration of various Finnish and foreign musicians and composers.
“Alan Wake 2 is an ambitious work of art that combines multiple media into one unique experience,” says creative director Sam Lake. “We focused solely on the music and worked on creating a lot of our own songs to enrich the story.”
The first song, titled Follow You Into The Dark, is out now and you can listen to it on your platform of choice. Other songs are called Lost at Sea; Superheroes; Dark, twisted and violent; There is no one left to love; Night springs and wide awakening. The full album, subtitled Chapter Songs, will be released alongside the game on October 27th.
