The wave of layoffs at game studios large and small continues with news from Team17. The developers of the Worms series and the publishers of a number of independent games such as Trepang2, Dredge or Blasphemous 2 have suffered so much from the financial situation that they are laying off most of their testers. At the same time, the head of the studio left. Michael Pattison.

In addition to most of the quality control department, positions in marketing and even programming will be cut. At least 50 positions are at risk. In the future, the team wants to outsource testing work. Back in the spring there were layoffs at Team17, and in connection with this there was talk of restructuring the studio. But the current wave is reaching larger proportions.

Commenting on Pattison’s departure, a company spokesperson told Eurogamer: “In response to reports of Michael Pattison leaving Team17, we can confirm that Michael and I have parted ways by mutual consent.”
