Electronic Arts has revealed plans for the future of the Criterion studio, which in the past was mainly involved in racing games from the Burnout and Need for Speed series. But the English team has been around for a long time. also participates in DICE studio projects. As part of Criterion’s support team, he helped develop games such as Star Wars Battlefront II, Battlefield V and Battlefield 2024.
This team will continue to develop the Battlefield series. EA officials say Criterion will support Battlefield 2024 and beyond will also participate in the development of a new work, which again should be created primarily in the DICE studio. The fact that Criterion will be tied to Battlefield even more than before is evidenced by the studio’s transition to a division of EA Entertainment. Previously, the studio was part of the sports division of EA Sports.
But EA adds that this doesn’t mean Criterion is done with racing games. In a small team inside the studio they are even now being created plans for the new Need for Speed, which was released in 2022 to great success with the subtitle Unbound. However, it is clear from the statement that, at least until the release of the new Battlefield, Criterion will primarily focus on the famous shooter from the position of the support team.
