The book was created in collaboration with Xzone stores and dedicated to the creation of more than a hundred legendary games. In it we learn details about the legendary Russian Mafia, as well as about the shooter Doom, the real-time strategy Age of Empires, the action game Max Payne, Portal from Valve or the sci-fi RPG Mass Effect from BioWare.

“How did such legends as Dungeon Master, Lemmings, Ishar, Doom or Grand Theft Auto come about? What computers did they use? Who made them? And what made them stand out? 50 Years of Video Games takes us back to a time when game developers had to figure it all out themselves, from writing the program to publishing it. Together we can follow in the footsteps of the brave pioneer expeditions of the authors of these iconic works. The book chronicles the stories of more than one hundred gaming legends, who have grown up with almost two generations of young people for whom games have become as important a part of their cultural worldview as movies, books, or comics. we will read in the press release.

“Each game is given 4-10 pages of space, including interesting stories behind the game’s development, original interviews with its creators, and an assessment of the game’s impact and impact on the entire industry. And all this in a unique graphic design with large screenshots and visual guides.” Martin Bach, one of the book’s editors and co-owner of Level, describes the contents of the upcoming book. Lead author Pavel Dobrovsky spent countless hours selecting gaming classics that should not be missing from a book like this. The result is a representative selection of titles that history will never forget.

Like the first book of interviews, 50 Years of Video Games is the result of a crowdfunding campaign to digitize the entire archive of Level magazine, which was backed by an incredible 1,121% from 865 contributors. Thus, fans contributed to the creation of three books, the first pair of which use the magazine’s endless archive.

“I am very glad that after Level’s first book, About Games and People, which became a hit, we can publish a second book. The 50 Years video games will be in the same format and on the same luxurious 130g paper as their big brother. Packed in a green sleeve, it will look great in the library of any video game enthusiast.” says Martin Schowaniec, co-owner of Xzone, enthusiastically.
