Developers Insomniac Games released new gameplay footage of the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 event last week at State of Play. The game’s creative director Brian Intihar said that the new part will feature roughly the same playtime as its 2018 predecessor.
According to HowLongToBeat, the length of the first game varied from 17:00 (main story), 25.5 hours (main and side missions) and 34.5 hours (full playthrough). Regarding the playing time, Intihar noted that the team did not have a pre-determined specific duration, but they tried above all to ensure that the game’s story was balanced and interesting enough throughout.
Game director Ryan Smith also commented on the game time in an interview with VG247. He stressed that the developers’ goal was not to create a game lasting 70 or 80 hours. Instead, he said, Insomniac focused on making each mission truly memorable. Spider-Man Marvel 2 will be released on October 20 exclusively on PlayStation 5.
