Once developers using the Unity engine exceed the thresholds, they will pay 20 cents for each new first installation in case of a lower level. For higher levels of Unity, it will be from $0.01 to $0.15 for each new first installation. They will have to pay even if the client installs the game on a computer and then, for example, on a Steam Deck, because it is a different device.. It’s even the opposite.

Of course, the developers don’t like this, they talk about betrayal and loss of trust in Unity. Luckily, Unity has since backed down a bit, explaining that only first installs count.
