Today an Apple conference was held, at which new products were presented, led by the 15th series of iPhone mobile devices. And although we don’t usually do this kind of thing, some very interesting information regarding games came up during the presentation. The iPhone 15 Pro (and Pro Max), powered by the new A17 Pro chip built on TSMC’s 3nm process, promises an upgraded GPU with up to 20% faster performance, greater efficiency, support for grid shading, and, for the first time, hardware improvements. -accelerated ray tracing.
Until now, we’ve mostly associated mobile games with games developed specifically for them, although some of them may have been based on console games. But a certain revolution is coming with the iPhone 15 Pro as several console games will look at it in its native form. Resident Evil 4 Remake, Resident Evil Village and Death Stranding are due out this year, and you’ll also be able to play Assassin’s Creed Mirage on Apple devices early next year.
Of course, we don’t yet know how well the games will perform, but it could definitely be of interest to people who don’t usually play on mobile devices. For this, Apple can also use MetalFX upscaling technology, which performed very well in the Digital Foundry test.
MetalFX in particular is really good – compared to DLSS 2 (last section of the attached video) it holds up pretty well. However, there are no major current iPhone games known to use it yet. https://t.co/I5MmuEmO6A
