Released in May of this year, the cooperative event Redfall, despite high expectations, received only very mixed reviews and reactions from the players themselves. From a brand new brand that was created in the Arkane Austin studio with the support of Bethesda and Microsoft, in short much more was expected. Representatives from Bethesda and Microsoft previously acknowledged that the release of the game was a flop. However, they always added in the same breath that they would try to restore the reputation of their title.
These words were recently repeated by the head of the publishing house Bethesda Pete Hines in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz magazine. He reported that the game and its perception did not match the ideas of the studio or the publisher himself. However, neither side should lay down their arms just because the launch itself failed. In addition, Hines noted that this is not the first time Bethesda has been in a similar situation. Current situation in Redfall compared it to games like Fallout 76 and The Elder Scrolls Online., which after the release were also criticized and condemned. However, thanks to abundant additional support, they managed to at least partially restore their tarnished reputation.
However, for now, the question is whether Redfall can do something similar. Although it’s four months away from release, players are still waiting for bigger content and other significant changes. Hines assured players that the developers are currently working on an update that will allow you to play at 60 FPS even on Xbox Series X/S consoles. It was for the lack of a smoother mode that the game was heavily criticized upon release. But players will need a lot more to give Redfall a second chance.
Redfall is available on PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X/S. The game is also available on Game Pass. You can find more information in our review.
