In June, we received new information and footage from one part of Survival Horror Alan Wake 2, when Remedy presented the story of FBI agent Saga Anderson. But, as we already know, he is only one of the two main characters that we will switch between during the game. The second is, of course, Alan himself, whose role was focused in the new trailer or 40-minute demo at Gamescom (we processed the impressions in the form of text and video).
Now, however, the developers have released a six-minute video that goes into more detail. He introduces us to the Dark Place where Alan was imprisoned for 13 years. Sam Lake talks about “meta” storytelling because those 13 years also represent the time that has passed since the first volume. Creating a duet was a really difficult task, the studio went through several concepts, but only now found the perfect one.
The Dark Place is largely based on Alan’s memories. The authors thus tempt us to find here a lot of references and references, even on the smallest plates with inscriptions. At the same time, the dark place should speak to Alan (and therefore to the player) using these inscriptions and other things.
The writer will have a hard time, because 13 years of loneliness and imprisonment in an unknown place will do their job. “Saga fights for his life and Alan fights for his sanity.” Says lead story designer Simon Wasselin.
Alan Wake 2 will be released on October 27 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
