Alan Wake 2 Horror First Impressions: Darker, Tenser Narrative – INDIAN

Alan Wake is one of the very popular adventure games in the editorial. The first part was a gripping story that gradually focused more and more on Alan’s mental state, about which we know very little. The game ended with a thrilling storyline in which Alan finds himself at the bottom of Lake Cauldron near the town of Bright Falls.

Studio Remedy loaded us with a custom bus and sent us to a nearby cinema in Cologne to calmly show how this story will continue. And to be something to see.

Almost a 45-minute demonstration spared neither our nerves nor our enthusiasm. We saw the entire mission and for the first time in years, we finally understood where the game was headed.

Alan is lost in the Dark Place and in the clutches of the Darkness familiar from the first volume. To understand everything that happens in it, he begins to collect the story piece by piece. A history that can be rewritten. And ideally in such a way as to subjugate the Darkness so that the main character can again communicate with the real world. On the other side is the FBI agent Saga Anderson, whom we saw earlier. However, the playable demo in the theater was entirely directed by Alan.

Traveling through the New York that the Darkness shapes from his consciousness and past, Alan is able to use the flashlight to “steal” the light, playfully lighting up new areas that were previously inaccessible. At the same time, Alan collects “echoes” of shadows in special places. They give him inspiration – pages of history with which to influence each scene in a new way. Once you learn a new clue about what might have happened in a certain scene, you can apply it to another scene and thus change the story completely.
