It’s been six long years since we saw the last LEGO Star Wars game. It was part of The Force Awakens at the time and more or less accompanied the film’s seventh episode of the same name. And everything seemed to be fine. Gradually we could see the eighth and then the ninth episodes, and then maybe some compilations. But after the release of The Force Awakens and the corresponding DLC packs, there was silence for several years.
In the meantime, development studio TT Games was working on several other projects, but nothing happened around Star Wars. It was only in 2019 that something new was announced and a completely new project was shown to the world – LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. An all-new game featuring all nine episodes of the movie that have been remastered and remastered from the ground up. This is not a remaster or a remake, but a completely new game that differs in many ways from previous LEGO games. But sometimes in a good way, and sometimes not at all.
From the moment the game was announced to its release, about three years passed. One of the main reasons for such a long development was, first of all, the fact that, at least, the developers that this project will once again take LEGO games a little further. And at first glance it is clear that there was at least an effort. The biggest evidence of this, of course, is the explicit camera change. The long-range view of separate locations where you fight, jump, shoot and solve puzzles is replaced with a camera that is much closer to your characters, and the game is more like a modern action adventure or action RPG. And even with the periodic ailments of such games, when the camera thinks that shove it into the wall is the best possible idea. However, while it may seem like this change doesn’t really have that much of an effect, or rather completely destroys the experiential nature of LEGO games, the truth is, as usual, somewhere between.
It should be noted right away that, fortunately, this is not a primary change. He’s counting on a new camera, like a combat system., as well as the general level of design and access to some other aspects. In addition to large and large spaces, you often end up in narrow corridors. Especially in those in which you are not doomed to certain angles, but always in control. In addition to feeling much closer to the event itself, which is really not enough, you will more easily appreciate all the details that the game is filled with. Especially for Star Wars fans, offering all the episodes in one game, which means iconic locations, characters, ships and music. a bit like a gift from heaven. Each character offers distinct and detailed craftsmanship. Many of them look decently used, here and there you will find worn texture, dusty legs and everything, of course, looks plastic and in the right way imperfect, like real LEGO figures.
