Bethesda and Microsoft have allowed players to preload the highly anticipated game on PC and Xbox Series X/S consoles. Starfield (will be available on Steam until August 30). Some took advantage of this and began to explore the files. Unfortunately, this is bad news.
After examining the files of the PC version, it was confirmed that it will not support Nvidia DLSS or Intel XeSS. There is no mention of these technologies in the code.
Starfield will apparently only support AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.. The company is an official partner of Bethesda, so the lack of competing technologies to improve the image and performance was expected. However, players are frustrated and annoyed that no company can directly say they won’t be adding support for other technologies.
Supporting only FSR 2 of all temporal upscalers is especially egregious, because if your engine can support temporal upscaling technology, then implementing support for other technologies should be trivial. There are also tools like NVIDIA Streamline that make the process much easier. pic.twitter.com/KgFHp72t84
