On the studio website Sony Santa Monica there are new vacancies. Currently the most interesting ad is a search engine combat systems designer. With him, a well-known California company claims detailed knowledge of combat systems god of War (2018) a God of War Ragnarok (2022). The candidate should be able to talk in detail about combat systems, mechanics and enemies.
The advert says that a new God of War is in development in Santa Monica, which isn’t surprising given the success of Ragnarok and the story that could be developed in multiple directions. But we must not forget about a brand new project being worked on by Cory Barlog’s team. He has served as director of development for God of War since 2018 and left that position to Eric Williams at Ragnarok. Earlier job postings indicated that Barlog would focus on a new brand in a sci-fi setting.
The same requirements regarding knowledge of previous God of War titles also apply to the team for the position of Senior Combat Designer. In both cases, work on a new unannounced title is reported. This is probably the new God of War, as another project should be at a much more advanced stage of development.
