Game delays are not unusual, on the contrary, in recent years we have increasingly reported that the game is delayed for weeks, months, or even indefinitely. In most cases, this is simply due to the fact that the developers need more time, but there are also curious cases. One of these is Alan Wake 2.
The long-awaited survival horror, which was originally supposed to be released on October 17, will be released only ten days later – on October 27, Remedy announced today. she announced on Twitter.
“October is a great month for game releases, and we hope that this (release) date shift will give everyone more opportunities to enjoy their favorite games,” says in the statement.
In short, Remedy wanted the game not to fall into the same league as other big games. After all, on October 20th, just three days after the original release date, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released on PlayStation 5 and Super Mario Bros. – on Nintendo Switch on the same day. Be surprised. On the other hand, this Finnish developers are much closer to the much closer genre Alone in the Dark, which will be released just two days earlier, on October 25th.
Remedy’s concerns are certainly justified. The first Alan Wake is notorious for being released just a few days before Red Dead Redemption, which undoubtedly affected its sales. The Finnish studio clearly does not want to repeat the same mistake.
Alan Wake 2 will be remembered at Opening Night Live, which is scheduled for August 22 at 20:00 Moscow time. This time we have a sample from Dark Place, where we look behind the back of the writer himself.
The game is coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Update from the Alan Wake 2 team: We are rescheduling the launch of Alan Wake 2 from October 17th to October 27th.
