After much speculation, we have received official confirmation that AMD is preparing several announcements for Gamescom, which will be held next week in Cologne. On Twitter this was announced by Scott Herkelman, vice president of the graphics division. AMD is planning a one-day event that will take place on Friday, August 25th in Hall 7. Various quizzes and competitions are planned for the participants, but the announcement show itself will only last about 30 minutes and is scheduled for 17:00 CET.
While Herkelman doesn’t specify exactly what to expect from the AMD Highlight Show, it’s widely believed that the Radeon RX 7700 XT and 7800 XT graphics cards will be announced. After all, the head of AMD, Lisa Su, announced a few weeks ago that the new graphics will appear in the third quarter.
Theoretically, however, it could be not only them. Gamers are looking forward to FSR 3, which should bring frame generation to games, as well as Nvidia’s Frame Generation, which is part of the DLSS 3 “package”. AMD announced this last November, but we haven’t heard much since. So, I hope the release is not far off.
Please join @AMDRadeon at Gamescom next week to announce our next big product!
If you can make it to Germany and be one of the several hundred thousand attendees at one of the biggest gaming events, I hope to speak to you in person!… pic.twitter.com/Te7l7ufU59
