The expected successor to the RPG Lords of the Fallen, which bears the exact same name, is slowly approaching. Developers from studio Hexworks recently held an event where journalists could try out the game, with a report from Wccftech magazine, which, as always, focused on the technical side.
The authors are very praising Unreal Engine 5, which they used for development. Whether it’s the Lumen system responsible for lighting, Nanite, thanks to which the game can have much higher quality of detail without a serious performance loss, or Chaos technology, which is responsible for physics. All of these features have made development easier, while at the same time the overall visual experience is much better. But it wasn’t free, and other aspects took it away.
Although the creators recently announced that the game will run at 60fps on consoles, they have yet to reveal the price. Wccftech said that the game will offer two modes, with “Quality” targeting 1440p upscaling at 30fps and “Performance” mode targeting Full HD (1080p) upscaling at 60fps. Unfortunately, we have not found out what the internal resolution will be, from which the image needs to be upscaled. At the same time, we do not even know the technology used, but we can assume that it will be AMD FSR 2.
At the same time, it is not entirely clear if the aforementioned modes apply to the Series S as well. The developers have previously stated that the game will also run at 60 FPS on this console, but if it was also aiming for the same resolution, it would have to have a very reduced detail or, of course, even more aggressive scaling.
What do you say about the presented modes, is this resolution enough for you if this is a trade-off for otherwise much better quality of details or lighting?
Lords of the Fallen releases October 13 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
