Game industry veteran dies John Gibson. Over the past forty years, mostly as a programmer, he has signed dozens of games in various genres and platforms. “I just heard the terrible news that my former colleague and original Imagine team member John Gibson has left us. A true legend in the gaming industry. I am absolutely devastated,” wrote Paul Hughes on Twitter.
Gibson joined the company in 1983. Imagine Softwarehis first play was root hammer. Imagine soon disappeared, and already in 1984, the programmer, along with five other colleagues, founded Denton Designwhere he contributed to several other games for the ZX Spectrum.
In 1990 he joined Psygnosiswhere he spent the next nine years. Here he worked his way up to the position of one of the main programmers and helped to promote the technologies of the time. He played a key role in the development of the game. Microcosmwhich was released on CD in 1993.
At the turn of the millennium, he worked in Warthog Games and since 2003 he has worked in Studio Evolution. Here we find his name in the titles of the games in the series. Motorstorm And DriveClub. After the studio closed in 2016, he continued to work as a programmer at Sony’s parent company.
