Some of the older parts of the Call of Duty series have been released on Xbox in recent days. a significant increase in the number of active players. These are, for example, parts such as Black Ops, Black Ops 2 or Modern Warfare 3, which were previously difficult to play due to matchmaking problems. However, Microsoft, in collaboration with Activision, has clearly shed light on this issue and solved it to some extent on the Xbox, as pointed out by well-known game insiders from the Call of Duty community, such as a user with the nickname CharlieIntel.

The result is a noticeable increase in the number of players in online battles, which, for example, in the aforementioned first Black Ops exceeded 123 thousand users. It should be emphasized that the patch so far only applies to Xbox versions that it also benefits from backward compatibility. This allows you to play games originally developed for Xbox 360 on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. For PC and PlayStation players, nothing has changed yet. Rumor has it that the emphasis on older titles in the series could be due to their future appearance on Game Pass.

The following parts are backward compatible on Xbox:

  • Call of Duty 2 (2005)
  • Call of Duty 3 (2006)
  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007)
  • Call of Duty: World at War (2008)
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009)
