Rhythm and strategy series Patapon will have a spiritual successor from some of the original developers. The game is called Rattan and created in collaboration with Ratata Arts, Tokyo Virtual Theory and pH Studio. The project is being directed by Hiroyuki Kotani (Patapon game designer), producer Kazuto Sakajiri (The Eye of Judgment), and composer Kenmei Adachi (Patapon, LocoRoco, Gran Turismo), among others.

In the meantime, we can look at the cover and nondescript teaser trailer. The creators hint that Ratatan will offer over 100 cute characters fighting on screenbattles for four players at the same time and more adventure and roguelike elements than Patapon. At the same time, they do not exclude that in the future they will make a continuation of Patapon.

It will be launched on 07/31/2023 campaign on Kickstarter. However, we need to find out more information about July 29th.

Patapon was first released in 2007 on the PSP as a collaboration between Pyramid and Japan Studio. Patapon 2 followed in 2008 and in 2011 we saw the third installment. The first two titles were ported to PS4 in 2017 and 2020, while Patapon 3 remains PSP-only.
