This is exactly what happened in the pixel adventure game DAVE THE DIVER. This unobtrusive thing sold over a million copies in its first week and is extremely positively received by the players. Out of 33,000 reviews, 97% of reviewers rated this product positively. Interestingly, during the early access phase, the game was not given due attention.

Wearing a diver’s shoes, you go to the depths, where more than 200 marine animals are waiting for you. The depth should be a place full of jokes, adventures, but also horrors. DAVE THE DIVER is only available on PC.
