Last fall we saw A Plague Tale: Requiem, the second installment in the series that continued the story of siblings Amicia and Hugo. The title got a 9 out of 10 from us in the review, and one of its strengths is definitely the visual aspect, which we focused on in the technical analysis. Even after the release, the developers did not sit idly by, after some time they introduced support for ray tracing (though only for shadows), and recently also a 60 FPS mode for consoles, before the game ran at a maximum of 40 frames per second.
And while this may have been the last point for Requiem, it still doesn’t feel like the end of the entire series. Fans spotted Asobo looking for new employees in a new post on LinkedIn. Most of them are for the team working on the new Flight Simulator, but 4 positions are listed for the Plague Team. Specifically, he is a visual effects artist, senior game designer, senior AI programmer, and senior gameplay animator. These are all important jobs that Asobo probably wouldn’t need to fill if it was just another update for Requiem. So it looks like there really is a whole new game in the works.
After all, it makes sense. Of course, I will not spoil anything, but the developers left the door open at the end of the Requiem in several ways. It is likely that this time we will look at a completely different place, and not in medieval France. However, for now, we can only assume that it will be several years before the game even comes out, if it is actually made.
