On Zing, you will find gaming hardware news from time to time. Colleagues regularly write about consoles, handhelds and computer components (especially graphics and processors). However, this may not be enough for some, and there is simply no room left on the gaming portal for certain hardware that can be used to customize the computer. That’s why every week we’ll bring the best from our partner site PCTuning, where expert editors analyze hardware down to the smallest detail.
Small and large graphics
Graphics card coolers are getting bigger every year, which you may have noticed when upgrading your computer case. Finding high-quality graphics that fit in two slots can be considered a small miracle. AFOX has exactly that, it’s an RTX 4090. The ventilation cooler is nothing special, but you just won’t see it on such expensive cards.
The opposite extreme is the reference cooler for the RTX 4090 Ti or RTX Titan. We don’t know the exact name yet. Information about this chart has been leaking for almost half a year. Initially it was assumed that this version would not be released at all. After all, the power consumption of the prototype is up to 900 W and the melting of the source is not a good calling card.
Nvidia has plenty of time to debug the new model. The next generation of graphics (probably labeled RTX Series 50) won’t arrive until 2025 at the earliest. This news was also discussed on Zing.
So that everything does not revolve only around Nvidia, let’s mention Intel. Few people have a blue team card in their computer, and the Intel Arc isn’t a hit, but it has potential for the future. New controllers still put a smile on the faces of a few owners. Because they bring a performance boost to the older version of Assassin’s Creed Unity. And it’s not a few percent, but dozens of FPS. We would also like this from AMD and Nvidia.
RTX 4060 review, don’t wait in line
This week, Nvidia released the GeForce RTX 4060, the most affordable Ada Lovelace-based model to date. A detailed review (16 chapters in total) can be found here. There are tests in Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher, Far Cry 6 or Metro Exodus. If you thought we were talking about Nvidia a lot, then trust that AMD will soon celebrate the release of this graphics card, as their line will offer the best value for money in this segment. In any case, here you get at least the DLSS 3 and AV1 codec. In a word, queues on the RTX 4060 will not be formed, literally. Read more in the review.
If you have an AMD Radeon RX7600 at home, you might want to take a look at an article where longtime PCT editor Adam Wagner tweaks this model for the purpose of lowering temperatures, reducing noise, and, of course, squeezing out a few extra FPS. You can find out if he succeeded here.
About Apple and Linux
If the Zing Podcast isn’t enough for you, you can tune in to Iron Talk. In addition to graphics, in the last part there was an understandable topic – Apple Vision Pro. A headset for virtual and augmented reality (Apple doesn’t use either of these words, so it’s hard to judge which category the glasses belong to) could revolutionize the segment, like the iPhone.
Finally, we have something for Linux users. If you’re going to be moving from Windows or MacOS, after a while you’ll probably start googling how to run Windows programs on Linux. That is why we have prepared this article for you.
Among the old hardware curiosities, you can also look at the graphics for a million crowns, which will not even run Crysis. See you again in a week with the right gaming iron.
