In an interview with Kinda Funny Games, Bethesda’s Todd Howard shared some interesting information about the upcoming sci-fi RPG Starfield. Developers have long tempted players to explore more than a thousand planets. However, Howard explained that only 10% of them will be inhabited living beings. The remaining 90% of virtually barren planets will be primarily used for resource gathering and environmental exploration. To create these planets, the authors used procedural generation.
Despite the use of this technology, Starfield has to offer the largest amount of hand-crafted content in the history of games from Bethesda. Howard went on to say that in the game vehicles will not or animals on which it was possible to move around the planets. The jetpack is primarily designed for fairly fast movement. Fishing will also not be available. Below you can view the 45-minute gameplay that was released at the Starfield Direct event and showcases most of the game mechanics.
Starfield coming out September 6th on PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X/S. The game will also be available on Game Pass on the day of release.
